About the Webinar
Research dashboards can make it much easier to move beyond static plots and tables and communicate data in a more interactive and accessible way. This webinar introduces the core logic of building dashboards with R and Shiny, with a focus on research communication, exploratory analysis, and public-facing outputs.

The session is aimed at researchers, students, policy analysts, and other R users interested in interactive dashboarding. Basic familiarity with R is expected. Some prior exposure to Shiny is helpful, but not required.
What will the webinar cover?
The session will introduce the basic structure of a Shiny app, including the relationship between the user interface and the server, the role of inputs and outputs, and the logic of reactive elements. It will also discuss layout and design choices that make dashboards clearer and more useful, and it will conclude with a walkthrough of a real example based on the FIRSA project dashboard.
Format
The webinar will consist of a 60-minute presentation followed by 15 to 20 minutes for questions and discussion. The session will be recorded, and the slides and related materials will be shared afterward on the FIRSA website.
Speaker
Dr. Alfredo Hernández Sánchez is a Marie Skłodowska-Curie ERA Postdoctoral Fellow at Vilnius University. His work combines applied research, data analysis, and reproducible computational methods, with a particular interest in developing digital tools such as dashboards and interactive web applications.
